Amigo Version 1.0 was written for this revolutionary computing device. The original Newton Messagpad or OMP, was not well received - it did not meet Apple’s expectations - nor did it meet the industry’s expectations. Nevertheless, the OMP was revolutionary because it introduced a new paradigm for a computing device. Amongst its most revolutionary features was its claimed ability to recognize handwriting. It was the first device of its kind in a package that could fit in a back pocket. The possibilities of one of the first natural input devices seemed to open a new world of potential applications. More subtle advances incorporated into Newton MessagePad, but nonetheless significant were the continuous operating system, and the virtual object-based store. |
