Installation:

To use this program simply install all the packages listed above. Those people using a MP2000 may wish to store the file unfrozen. As it has been known ( at least to me ) that when activated in it's frozen state to crash the MP2000. Other than that it is pretty straight forward.

Features:

As this is a totally unsupported product, no liability is taken by anybody except the person who decides download and use the program. The Goth Release is release d31 and is therefore older than release d51 which is the time expired demo presently located on the web. However, this release does run but is has some limitations which are know ( and some which may not as yet have been found ).

Running Features:

Creation, Deletion, Duplication and Renaming of Databases.
Creation, Deletion, Duplication and Renaming of Records.
Allows for use of Popup's with Defined Lists.
Allows for up to four Layouts.
Allows for searching for a Record
Allows for Sorting of Records

Preferences, Help. ( These both show About )

As you can see, the Goth Release has the Newton Side of the Database complete. it doesn't however, allow for connection. At least not a successful one. The program will attempt a connection when you ask it to but is never locates the computer on the other end. It appears that it is after an Appletalk Connection ( therefore it may be MAC only ). Now, I was told that there was a plug-in designed for use with this program ( system or Filemaker I'm not sure ). However, the person which supplied this does not have it anymore ( If you were a beta tester and you still have it we would be very grateful). However, I have been working with Sloup to try to overcome this and I believe that it will work, but as I am new to Sloup I haven't been able to make sure.

Sloup Connection:

Just follow the instructions with Sloup to setup and make your connection. The FMPC database has three Soups attached to it. They are headed by a number and then one of the following:

info:FMPC:Claris
data:FMPC:Claris
log:FMPC:Claris

Now, to find out the number just type DUMP! at the Terminal prompt. You should see a list of Soups scroll past. Scroll back up and find the Soup to the Database. If you have more than one you will have a number of Soups which match the above listed forms but with different numbers.

Now, the log Soup has no data in it. I believe that this would have been the Soup which contains information about when and where you last synced etc. The info Soup contains what Layouts you have set-up and the fields contained in the database. The data Soup contains the data. You can see the data by using the following commands ( this works for all three soups, I'm using the number 182 ):

182 info:FMPC:Claris
{}
DUMP!

This will Dump all the data in that Soup. This will allow you to export ( with a little work ). Unfortunately, I have been unable to get Sloup to dump just the data by using entryspecs other than the Empty ones. This may however, be my limited experience with Sloup ( and that I'm using an old version and the lasted instructions ). Importing doesn't appear to work, yet. it does create a new record but as my entry spec is wrong I don't get the data in. I'm going to continue working on this and will update when I get it working.
