ACT! for Newton

Instructions:

Requires Newton System 2.0 or newer.  Note that 
this version will not work unless a previous 
version of ACT! has been previously installed 
on your Newton.  Be sure to remove the "ACT!" 
icon from your Extras Drawer before installing 
this new version.


New Features & Fixes:

* Linking between the desktop & Newton versions 
  of ACT! now works on the MP 2000 & eMate.

* ACT! is now aware of larger screens and can be 
  moved within the larger environment.  You can 
  tap anywhere in the ACT!'s border to drag it.

* The clock (at the lower left hand portion of 
  the screen) has been replaced with the new 2.0 
  "i" info button. The first item on menu is the 
  current date & time; choose it to set the date 
  and time. Second item on the menu hides ACT! 
  for Newton.  Tap the ACT! icon to show ACT! again.

* Added new "Tap info button to Hide ACT!" which 
  is a new preference setting for choosing to hide 
  the application (without closing it) by tapping 
  the info button without having to choose an item 
  from the info button's popup menu.

* There is a new card view which shows all the 15 
  user fields. As with our other card views, the 
  new one can be printed.

* Added a new filter to the task list for viewing 
  all activities "This Week" (Sunday through 
  Saturday).

* You can now select "E-mail Address" from the 
  phone number list in the Contact List to display 
  the e-mail address instead of a phone number.

* MP 2000 & eMate users can now pick any of the new 
  synthesized sounds for their alarm and birthday 
  sounds.

* The keyboard button in ACT!'s status bar is now 
  smarter.  If a keyboard is already visible 
  onscreen, tapping the keyboard button will 
  popup a menu of keyboard choices.

* All throughout ACT! for Newton, there is a new 
  mechanism to tell the keyboard button which 
  keyboard to display for a particular input line.  
  For instance, in the Contact Editor, if the caret 
  is in a phone field and there is no keyboard open, 
  then tapping the keyboard button will open the 
  phone keyboard. This has been added to all of 
  ACT!'s date, time, phone input fields.

* When adding the "Date through Dear Name" in an 
  ACT! letter, the first item on the menu will 
  now include company name if it exists.

* MP 2000 users can now drag the ACT! icon to the 
  soft button bar (consequently, ACT!'s General 
  Preferences no longer allows you to select 
  "Open/Close" or "Show/Hide").

* Fixed a problem where the user could have 
  accidentally gone to the contact editor if 
  they pointed a pixel or two above the 
  lookup popup menu.

* Fixed some data entering bugs in the Contact 
  Editor area-- you can now tap the diamonds 
  on the shortcut popups.

* New more modern ACT! splash screen using 16 gray 
  shades on a MP2000 & eMate.

* Almost every change made for this new version 
  was written in a way to benefit all MessagePad 
  120,130, 2000, and eMate users.


About the "ActLogos" folder
(Letterhead Logo Installer for ACT!)

Letterhead Logo Installer installs a logo
that will be used as letterhead when printing
letters from ACT! for Newton.  This demo
version does not actually install the logos.
