Frequently Asked QuestionspowerNotes 2.0Q: I've created my layout, now how do I use it?A: Once you've created your layout, you must install it to the notepad.  To install a layout, tap the Routing button in the lower left part of the screen.   Choose "Install" from the pop up Routing list.  This will install your layouts as stationery in the Notepad.  To use the layout once it is installed, tap the new button at the bottom of the Notepad and select the name you created from the list.Q: Why doesn't a cell configuration slip pop open when I double tap on the cell?A:	To open up the configuration slip the cell must be unhighlighted.  Unhighlight the cell by tapping outside the cell you want to configure, and then open the configuration slip by double tapping the cell.Q: Some of my cells say "This layout uses a tool that has been removed."  How do I fix these cells?A: This message means that some of the tools you were using have been deleted or possibly removed with the card.  Reinsert the card or redownload the tools, if necessary.  All your cells will work normally and no information will be lost when you get the needed tools.Q: When I eject my card, my notes in the Notepad say "This note uses stationery that is not installed and can not be displayed."  How do I fix this?A:	This is caused because powerNotes is installed on your PCMCIA card.  The Notepad needs to use powerNotes to display stationery created by powerNotes.  To avoid this problem, reinsert the card and file powerNotes and its tools on the internal store.Q: When I beam a powerNotes' note from the Notepad, the receiver can't display the note.  Why is this?A:	To beam a powerNotes' note, the receiver must have powerNotes, the layout that created the note, and all the tools that are used in the layout.  Beam them the necessary items and then the note you were trying to beam will be displayed.   Q: When I change a layout which is already installed in the Notepad, the changes affect the notes I have already created.  How can I avoid this?A:	If you don't want your changes to take affect on your old notes, you must duplicate the layout and rename it before it is installed.  You can then modify the duplicated layout without affecting the old notes.Q: I have installed the new tools, and they look slightly different than before.  What's going on?A:	The new powerNotes tools contain many new configuration options.  Some of the defaults for these new options may change the look of the tools slightly.  You might have to go back into powerNotes and reconfigure some of your cells.Q: powerNotes is slow when I quit or when I remove it from the Newton (i.e removing the card or freezing it).  Why is this?A: There are a couple reasons for this, but the main reason is that since powerNotes workswith the Notepad, it needs to be sure to tell the Notepad of any changes that are made.  When you quit or remove powerNotes, it is doing a lot of work to make sure your Notepad is up to date and functioning properly.  One way to speed this up is to have the Notepad closed when you are using powerNotes.  To close the Notepad, simply make some other application the backdrop and then tap the close box that will appear in the Notepad.Q: My Newton runs out of heap when I use powerNotes. How can I fix this?A: Though we have tried to limit the heap usage of powerNotes, powerNotes by it's very nature needs to use some heap to install stationery into your Newton's Notepad.  The more stationery you have installed, the more heap that will be used.  Also, the size of your notes will effect how much heap powerNotes uses.  To help save some heap, you might try using more pages in your stationery, instead of cramming a bunch of fields on one page.  On some strongly heap constrained systems you might not be able to run powerNotes effectively without freeing up some of your heap memory.Q: When I create a new note in the Notepad that uses stationery made by powerNotes, it take a little while before my note appears.  Why is this?A: Chances are you have a fairly complex note with a lot of fields.  Your stationery is just setting itself up properly during this waiting period.  One way to speed this up slightly would be to spread your cells out onto multiple pages instead of having a lot on one page.Q: Where are the Easter Eggs?A: Yeah right... you didn't actually expect us to tell you did you?
